A successful candidate, who we are happy to hire, is studying or has obtained a Certificate III or IV in Individual support or other related area. We strongly recommend to acquire certificates in Manual Handling, First aid and providing CPR, NDIS required trainings, Assisting with medication. As these training will help you to navigate though challenging situations at work.
A Disability Support Worker wears many hats—you are a caregiver, a mentor, an advocate, and often a friend. Your tasks vary from assisting with daily personal care activities to help individuals to become more independent, and provide emotional support. We have seen many times, when thanks to the help of Support workers individuals with disability would become more engaging, active and open in the community.
Your journey, as a Support Worker, will include constant learning. From on-the-job training to specialized workshops, there is always room to grow your expertise. As the sector evolves, so do the opportunities—to progress into roles such as senior support worker, team leader, or even into allied health positions with further education.
Being on time, being responsible, writing and delivering case notes on time, maybe one of the basic things, however they are the fundamentals of a great cooperation with the team. We recommend to come on time and communicate if you are late, share incidents and write incidents report. Communication and Care are the main pillars of the great team work for a Support Worker.
